ALASKALASKA BEES

Never ones to shy away from serious subject matter, London-based jazz-poppers ALASKALASKA have revealed the second progressive cut from their recently-announced debut album THE DOTS. Whilst last month's lead single 'Moon' discussed a number of very real yet rarely discussed neuroses surrounding PMS, 'Bees' covers the much broader and seemingly even more terrifying topic of "What in the hell is going on with the world?" Lyrically touching on everything from the power of white men to buying a new face, 'Bees'' buzzing synth undercurrent is complemented perfectly by a chorus-heavy, offbeat bass line, as ambient, reversed effects echo behind building sax work. As if that wasn't enough, the Ashley Rommelrath-created video enhances the message of the track with some bang-up-to-date footage featuring clips of worrying world leaders, public violence and cats doing acrobatics. Check it out here now. -Holly Mullineaux
